A Huntington program targeting violent crime and illegal drug sales has received a $157,000 federal grant.
U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall said Tuesday the city will use the funding from the U.S. Department of Justice to continue its Weed and Seed program.
Huntington development and planning chief Charles Holley says the program topped expectations in its first two years. He says the city is seeing a drop in crime and an increase in population for the first time in more than a decade.
The program includes law enforcement, community policing, neighborhood stabilization and prevention, intervention and treatment. |
